The woods are still bare from winter, but a look back to 2020 provides a preview of what's to come. The trees and bushes sprout first, then thicken, and the kudzu fills the forest by summer. The paths along the Rivanna Trail narrow as the bushes and kudzu grow, and then you can't get down to the creek. As the forest thickens the sky disappears. Only patches of light penetrate to the bare spots of dirt.
