Land around the homestead began to disappear three years ago. There was just enough room to squeeze in an apartment complex next to the interstate. The chainsaws and chippers came in and reduced the land to mulch. The builders came in next. The slope of the land didn't matter. They just flattened it. Now they're moving on to the next ravine and carving out the next complex. Here's what it looked like when they cleared out the trees for the last complex.
