The beaches of Corolla, N.C., cover some 20 miles along the northern Outer Banks of Currituck County. About 5,000 vacation rental houses dot the landscape. A summer population of tourists escape to Corolla from cities along the east coast. Duck, Kitty Hawk, and Nags Head lie to the south. Corolla is remote enough to separate your mind from the cares of daily life, and yet connected enough to provide all the comforts of modern living. It's perfect for a week of rejuvenation along the sand dunes, beaches, and ocean surf. The photos below document several afternoons of walking the beach. A polarizing filter added the dramatic blue skies.
