Prior to closing the Rotunda in May of 2014 for engineering upgrades and restoration, the dome was stripped for resurfacing in 2013. New copper cladding was put on to seal the dome, and this became known as the copper top Rotunda. The copper was left exposed until the summer of 2015, when it was given its traditional coat of white paint. The lede photo was shot in early April, 2015. The grass seems to be especially green in early April, unlike any other time of year, and spring photos seem to pop. Here are some from the spring of 2015. All of them were taken with a Coolpix A, a palm-sized mirrorless camera now discontinued by Nikon. It has a fixed 28 mm full frame equivalent lens, so the perspective is quite wide. It gives an interesting view of The Lawn.
