Searching for Herons in the Winter Creek
In most places, the creek is only a few inches deep, but there is enough flow to keep it clean. Small fish live in favorable spots. In the winter, blue herons wade through the creek looking to eat them. Walkers, joggers, and trail bikers beat the creek side path. The herons avoid areas too close to the path, but you can still spot them from the bridges and high ground along the creek. Look for the herons in the photos below. Expose for the Highlights
Highlight metering on the Nikon D750 preserves detail in the highlights at the expense of the shadows. Essentially, it's matrix metering with priority for the highlights and a weighting factor for how much of the scene is in highlight. In bright scenes, it will give you a contrasty look with dark shadows. These photos were taken with highlight metering, and were mostly take wide open at f/1.4.
