
Spring 2021: Walking Through the Woods
The beginning of April marks the start of the spring transformation. Familiar paths offer a new landscape. The trees are bare, but sprigs of green are showing. The transformation is rapid. One day you can see through the woods, and a week later winter views begin to disappear. Green is a different shade in the spring, cooler and more blueish. Spring Preview: Looking Back to 2020
The woods are still bare from winter, but a look back to 2020 provides a preview of what's to come. The trees and bushes sprout first, then thicken, and the kudzu fills the forest by summer. The paths along the Rivanna Trail narrow as the bushes and kudzu grow, and then you can't get down to the creek. As the forest thickens the sky disappears.
