Halloween 2016 was another crisp Fall day. The trees were halfway to winter. Leaves were piling up on The Lawn. Mostly, the tradition is the same every year. The kids make a circuit around the colonnades and Lawn residents dispense the treats. Parents guide the way. No one is too small or too old for a costume. Everyone is taking pictures. A Walk Around The Lawn: Graduation 2017
On graduation morning, May 20, 2017, it was a perfect spring day. Students assembled on the north side of the Rotunda, while parents and family members filled The Lawn. Graduates made the traditional procession to Old Cabell Hall. The main speaker was long-winded. What else would you expect? Balloons went up as university president Theresa Sullivan pronounced that all the fresh faces wearing mortarboards were now newly minted graduates of the University of Virginia. A day to
